Boulder Fire Rescue and Four Mile Fire contain and extinguish small wildland fire west of the city
Boulder Fire-Rescue and Four Mile Fire Protection District responded to a wildland fire near The Peoples’ Crossing that was reported about 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 9. The firefighters contained and extinguished the fire. No evacuations were necessary, and no injuries occurred.
The fire burned about a quarter acre of land, mostly grass, on an area that is city-owned open space land and also part of the Four Mile Fire Protection District. The cause was a campfire.
Boulder Fire-Rescue and Four Mile Protection District are inspecting the area today out of an abundance of caution, to ensure the fire is entirely and properly extinguished.
When first responders arrived at the fire last night, a nearly unconscious, intoxicated man was found lying in a ditch by firefighters. The firefighters administered medical aid to the man and transported him to a nearby hospital. He is not believed to be the person who started the fire, and his medical needs were unrelated to the fire.
Boulder Fire-Rescue would like to thank its partners for their swift response to this wildland fire event, including the Four Mile Fire Protection District, Sunshine Fire District, Boulder Emergency Squad, the United States Forest Service, and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
