Boulder Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash
BOULDER, Colo. – The Boulder Police Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal crash between a motorcyclist and an SUV driver last night on 30th Street.
At approximately 7:22 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3, officers were called to the intersection of 30th Street and Eagle Way for a report of a crash. A 2002 Toyota 4Runner was driving north on 30th and turning west on to Eagle Way when it was struck by a southbound 2020 Yamaha R6 motorcycle at a high rate of speed.
The motorcyclist—a 20-year-old male from Hawaii—died at the scene. The vehicle driver—a 27-year-old woman from Boulder—remained on scene and is cooperating with officers. Neither she nor her dog in the car were injured in the crash. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and notify the next of kin.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the motorcycle’s speed was a factor in the crash.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and Boulder Police ask anyone who witnessed anything leading up to this crash or the crash itself to please contact Officer Kaufman at 720-291-2768 or email at KaufmanD@bouldercolorado.gov reference case 23-07448.
