The panel invites all community members who have a strong tie to the city of Boulder to consider applying to serve on the Police Oversight Panel.
The City of Boulder’s Police Oversight Panel (“Panel“) is accepting applications for new panel members. Established in 2020, Boulder’s Police Oversight Panel reviews complaint investigation files and makes disciplinary, policy, and training recommendations to the Boulder Police Department. To identify new members, the panel has formed a Selection Committee composed of two current panel members as well as representatives from two local non-profit organizations: AMISTAD and the Boulder County NAACP.
The panel invites all community members who have a strong tie to the city of Boulder to consider applying to serve on the Police Oversight Panel. Residency in the city of Boulder is not required.
Service on the Police Oversight Panel will entail a significant time investment and require regular attendance at monthly meetings, participation in full case file review discussions, service on a panel committee, and participation in regular training sessions. Panel members should expect to dedicate approximately 15 hours of service per month to the work of the oversight panel. Panel members will receive a stipend of $200 per month.
The panel is committed to independently analyzing and evaluating community complaints to assist in providing equitable outcomes and restoring community trust. Diverse representation of the Boulder community is the cornerstone of the panel’s work, bringing historically marginalized voices to the forefront in police oversight.
