The new bouldercolorado.gov is driven by user input with the goal of better serving you.
The City of Boulder has launched a new website designed to be faster and easier for the public to use.
The new bouldercolorado.gov is shaped by user input, research and testing to better serve the needs of the community. The project has been several years in the making and city staff audited, consolidated and revised more than 5,500 webpages down to 1,000 as part of the process. The new website is designed to be:
- user-centered and service-driven;
- intuitive and easy to use;
- more efficient for staff to update;
- modern and visually engaging; and
- built on user research and iteratively improved based on user research.
“We’ve created our website in a new way that strives to organize services and information so they are intuitive for community members, and not based on department structure. This reflects our commitment to making government more accessible,” said City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde. “Our goal with this website is to better meet your needs, save you time and deliver exceptional customer service online.”
The website includes new features, functionalities and content identified by user input. A few examples include:
- a user-centered approach to organizing information in a clear and consistent way by services, projects and news;
- the ability to filter, sort and search popular content, including the much-requested ability to explore the city's hiking trails by length, difficulty and other factors;
- guides to popular topics, like biking, and complex information, such as planning and development services, so all related resources can be found in one place; and
- a mobile-first, fast-loading design that works on any device, recognizing more than half of all traffic to the city website is now from mobile.
Community members are encouraged to provide feedback on the city’s online engagement platform, Be Heard Boulder, and/or feedback forms on the website itself. Feedback from the public will help shape ongoing development of the website.
The city’s prior website was launched in 2013. The city website receives approximately 1.5 million visitors and 7 million pageviews a year on average. The new website was developed in partnership with Denver-based Aten Design Group.
