How to Keep Your Family and Community Safe this Thanksgiving
Traditional holiday gatherings with family and friends are fun, but with COVID-19 cases continuing to spike in Colorado, it is critical that our community remains vigilant during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
Here are some tips for a safer Turkey Day:
- Get vaccinated: Protect those not yet eligible for vaccination such as young children by getting yourself and other eligible people around them vaccinated.
- Keep gatherings small: Consider limiting to just people that live in your household.
- Host outdoors: If weather allows, host an outdoor gathering. Outdoors is safer than indoors.
- Go virtual: Host a virtual Thanksgiving meal with friends and family who don’t live with you.
- Mask up: Wear a face mask and keep your distance while grocery shopping for your Thanksgiving feast.
- If you are sick or have symptoms, don’t host or attend a gathering.
Recently, Governor Polis broadly approved COVID-19 boosters for distribution in Colorado. Because COVID-19 is spreading quickly throughout the state, Colorado is considered a high-risk place to live right now. Anyone who is 18 or older who would like to get a booster and is due for one should make a plan to get one.
