Man in Critical Condition After Paragliding Accident

BOULDER, Colo. — Around 2 p.m. today, Boulder Fire-Rescue got called to Wonderland Hill in the area of Sixth street and Locust avenue to respond to a man in a paragliding incident. He sustained injuries to the right side of his body and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Boulder Fire-Rescue’s station 1 crew responded to the area and found the injured man two-thirds of the way up Wonderland Hill. Along with Rocky Mountain Rescue, the Boulder Sheriff’s Office, and Boulder Open Space Mountain Parks Rangers, Boulder Fire-Rescue prepared him for transport down the hill and then transported him down the hill on foot.

The man was then transferred to an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance and transported to Boulder Community Hospital.

“We are thankful for bystanders calling 911 in this incident,” said Battalion Chief Mark Evans. “This individual needed the skill of first responders to rescue him from the side of Wonderland Hill and get him to the help that he needs quickly and efficiently. If you see an incident where someone is hurt or in danger, do not hesitate to call 911. Don’t assume that someone else has.”
