Take pics of trash when volunteering for the ‘Let’s Tidy up Boulder’ challenge
Holiday Closures
In observance of the winter holidays, the City of Boulder is adjusting its operations schedules.
City trash has never looked so good. Tidy Up Boulder, the city’s volunteer program to pick up litter, has partnered with Litterati, an app to take photos of trash picked up during litter clean ups.
The city is throwing down the gauntlet and challenging community members to participate in the “Let’s Tidy Up Boulder” challenge by gathering (and taking photos of) 3,000 pieces of trash using the Litterati app between Aug. 15 to Nov. 1.
Volunteers can participate in the “Let’s Tidy Up Boulder” challenge by visiting bouldercolorado.gov/services/tidy-boulder and choosing one of over 40 designated volunteer waste pick up spots on the map. Volunteers can then download the Litterati app for Google or iOS and enter the code “TUB2021” to join the challenge.
“We’re so appreciative of our volunteers who have participated in the Tidy Up Boulder program and have helped beautify our city,” said Coordinator of Volunteer Services Cassy Bohnet. “We encourage everyone to volunteer and make our city look even better by participating in this challenge.”
All community members who enter the challenge and use Litterati to take photos of and tag their collected trash will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Downtown Boulder gift card.
App participants can see how they rank in trash pickup volume compared to others worldwide who use the app, in addition to providing aggregate, anonymous, geolocated litter data to the city.
The city will host a webinar on Monday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. for those who would like support with Litterati.
If you are part of a group and would like to track the trash your group collects during the challenge, please contact Cassy Bohnet at 303-441-4404 or BohnetC@bouldercolorado.gov or Rene Lopez at 303-413-7149 or LopezR@bouldercolorado.gov for more information.
