About Tina
City Council Member
I am honored to serve my community in my role as a member of the Boulder City Council. I look forward to working with my council colleagues, staff, and community to address the challenges in our city, such as reducing homelessness and housing insecurity, improving public safety, increasing affordable middle-income housing options, meeting our climate goals, and improving transportation.
My family and I have lived in Boulder for over 20 years. During that time, I have volunteered throughout the Boulder community, gaining a rich understanding of my neighbors and their experiences. I first volunteered for the School Accountability Committee at Foothill Elementary before transitioning to the Boulder Valley School District Accountability Committee. Beginning in 2013, I was elected to the BVSD school board. During my 8 years there, including 4 years as president, I advocated for the needs of students and staff through the development of outcome-driven goals, policy, and budgets. My time on the board included the challenging times during the pandemic.
I am most proud of the academic gains among our low-income and English-language learners at Alicia Sanchez Elementary, and the improvement of policies around anti-discrimination, Title IX, and discipline to ensure BVSD is an inclusive place for all students and staff.
Outside of BVSD, I served on the Board for the Conference of World Affairs at CU for six years, including the inaugural board in 2013 and as Chair. In addition, I helped serve meals and make birthday cards for our homeless neighbors with my family, pitched in to help mil levies and bonds pass to fund our schools, and advocated for legislation to increase funding for our students, especially those needing extra support. As part of broad coalitions, I advocated for regulations around vaping in the City of Boulder, restrictions around young adult access to marijuana and a sugar tax to create the health equity fund. I continue to serve on the Long-Range Advisory committee for the district to address declining enrollment in BVSD, and help out with programming for the Democratic Women of Boulder County.
