The Heart of Boulder's Community Transit Network

The HOP bus service debuted in 1994 and is provided by the City of Boulder through a funding partnership with the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and CU Boulder.

Bus Route

Regular Schedule & Frequency

Find the most up-to-date schedules on RTD Next Ride. Service levels may be reduced during off-peak seasons, including winter and summer break.

Weekdays

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (12-minute frequency)
  • 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (20-minute frequency)

Saturday

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (15-minute frequency)
  • 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (22-minute frequency)

Sundays and Holidays

  • 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (23-minute frequency)

2025 holiday service days include: Wednesday, Jan. 1; Monday, May 26; Friday, July 4; Monday, Sept. 1; Thursday, Nov. 27 and Thursday, Dec. 25.

RTD MyRide allows you to follow the HOP on its route and get real-time information on arrivals and service updates.

Animals

  • Animal policy: Only Service Animals are allowed

Bike and Ride with HOP

Embark

  • When the bus comes to a complete stop walk in front of the bus
  • Lower the bike rack, load your bike and secure it with the tire bar

Disembark

  • When disembarking, remind the driver that you are retrieving your bike
  • Walk in front of the bus, release the tire bar, and unload your bike

  • In 2024, HOP ridership totaled 545,487 and averaged 1,490 passengers a day.
  • The HOP continues to operate a reduced service schedule. For the HOP, this includes an approximate 25% reduction in service hours—as weekday frequencies have been changed from 10/12-minutes to 15-minutes since April 19, 2020.
  • 2024 ridership numbers are 30% below HOP pre-COVID-19 ridership numbers.
  • HOP ridership increases when CU Boulder is in session and decreases when the university is on break.
