City launches “Learning Together” phase of Reimagining Policing project
Community members invited to explore key topics related to policing and the department
The City of Boulder announced today the start of a “Learning Together” window of engagement as part of the effort to Reimagine Policing and update the Police Department Master Plan.
The window will last from today through April 2022 and include the sequenced release of more information on topics the community has indicated they are interested in, along with opportunities to ask questions during town halls and provide input online.
The information on each topic will be posted on the city’s Be Heard Boulder engagement platform and on the Reimagine Policing project website as it becomes available. Information will also be shared on the Police Department's social media platforms.
The first explainer document, on the Police Department’s budget, was released today.
Interested community members with questions or comments about these topics are invited to attend upcoming Police Department Town Halls (schedule below) to dialogue with city and police leaders and other community members. Because of the pandemic, these sessions will be hosted online. Individuals who would like to participate must register in advance to receive an access link. They may also submit questions in advance at the same location.
If community members cannot attend a town hall and wish to provide feedback, they may do so on the Be Heard Boulder engagement platform. As each topic is released, the city will provide space for individuals to respond to a few prompt questions and provide feedback.
The following is the expected schedule for the topics, along with target release dates (subject to change):
