The City of Boulder will host a virtual public information session Wednesday, July 20, from 6 to 7 p.m. to share updates on ongoing and future transportation projects planned for the 30th Street and Colorado Avenue corridors:
- 30th and Colorado Underpass Project
- Update on construction; scheduled to be completed in early 2023
- 28th and Colorado Intersection Improvements Project
- Staff will share final design for project; construction to be completed in 2024
- 30th St. Corridor Multimodal Improvements Project
- Staff will share final design for project; construction to be completed in 2024
These projects will enhance safe and efficient transportation connections between the many popular community destinations in the area, including the University of Colorado Boulder’s main and east campuses, student housing, public parks, and 29th Street shopping and services. Improvements will include the construction of pedestrian underpasses, intersections with enhanced signal timing for people walking, rolling and bicycling, protected bike lanes and intersections, and bus-priority lanes.
The projects were developed through the 30th and Colorado Corridors Study, which was completed in 2019 and identified locations for safety and connectivity improvements based on crash data analysis and feedback from community members who live, work, and study in the area. The city’s 2016 Safe Streets Report found that the study area contained six of the top crash locations in Boulder.
These projects are also a part of the city’s Core Arterial Network. The CAN is the connected system of protected bicycle lanes, intersection enhancements, pedestrian facilities, and transit facility upgrades that will help reduce the potential for severe crashes and make it more comfortable and convenient for people to get where they need to go along Boulder’s main corridors.
