As another April arrives and spring renews the world around us, the City of Boulder is once again preparing to celebrate Earth Day—a time to reflect on our deep connection to the planet and our role in protecting it.
This year, we invite you to join us in honoring the natural world and the collective efforts that make our community more resilient. From hands-on sustainability workshops to group activities that reconnect us with nature, Boulder’s Earth Day events offer opportunities for learning, action and inspiration. Together, we can take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future—one that supports both people and the planet for generations to come.

Here is a round-up of local events and ways to take action:
Travel Green in Celebration of Earth Week!

Date: Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27
Location: Any sustainable trip!
Pledge to walk, roll or ride sustainably in celebration of Earth Week! From Monday, April 21 through Sunday, April 27, swap your solo-driving trips and travel green.
Visit the My Way to Go Earth Week webpage and login or sign up to begin tracking your trips to work, the grocery store, a local park or other favorite spots. By participating, you’ll earn a unique Earth Week badge and get entered into a prize drawing for goodies from Compost Colorado and Nude Foods!
Earth Day for Pollinators
Date: Tuesday, April 22,
Time: 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Location: Online
Let’s look a little at the history of Earth Day and discuss ideas you can incorporate into your landscape to help our local wildlife and pollinators. The class will cover some history of Earth Day as well as landscape planning and a little dive into pollinators you may find in your landscape. Great for all levels of gardeners.

Earth Day Storytime
Date: Tuesday, April 22
Time: 4 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Meadows Branch Library, 4800 Baseline Rd.
The Meadows Branch library is offering an in-person Earth Day Storytime with books, songs and crafts to teach children about the importance of treating the earth with kindness.
Boulder Creek Path Clean-Up
Date: April 27
Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: 101 Arapahoe Ave. and 4141 Arapahoe Ave.
Join the City of Boulder for the first of two annual Boulder Creek Path Clean-Ups. Starting this year, the City of Boulder will host one spring and one fall Boulder Creek Path Clean-Up. Volunteers will clean up the Boulder Creek Path alongside our Safe and Managed Public Spaces (SAMPS) team, who will be helping to address any safety concerns. Sign up for Boulder Creek Path Clean-Ups
Valmont Park Clean-Up Day
Date: May 17
Location: Valmont Park
SAVE THE DATE: Join us on Saturday, May 17 for a Valmont Park Clean-Up Day! We'll be giving the Bike Park, Dog Park and Disc Golf Course a spring refresh and getting the space ready for warmer days! Sign-up info for Valmont Park Clean-Up Day coming soon
Water Is Love Film Screening

Date: Wednesday, April 23

Join the City of Boulder in an Earth Day Celebration for a screening of the award-winning documentary Water Is Love: Ripples of Regeneration.
Water Is Love: Ripples of Regeneration is a poignant documentary that delves into the intricate relationship between communities and their water sources. The film highlights the challenges faced by various communities worldwide in ensuring sustainable water management and shows inspiring stories of resilience and regeneration.
Free and open to the public. Registration required for the film screening.
10th Annual Stand Up for Climate Comedy
Join us at the 10th annual Stand Up for Climate Comedy from CU!
This event celebrates the power of comedy to ignite climate awareness and action, featuring two professional comedians, interspersed with brief sketch comedy by students from the CU Creative Climate Communication course—live music to follow.

Join CERI (Climate Emotional Resilience Institute) for Rising for the Planet: Climate Conversations on Earth Day!
As we are moving towards Earth Day, a coalition of dedicated organizations is coming together to uplift and empower communities.
The climate crisis can make us feel discouraged and isolated. But we are not alone. We have the power to support each other through the highs and lows and build resilient communities rooted in solidarity, hope and shared action.

Tree Sapling Giveaway - Play Boulder Foundation

Date: April 26, 2025
Time: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Boulder Farmers Market
Get your soil ready for some trees! This is an opportunity for community members to get free trees and contribute to our collective efforts of growing the urban canopy! The giveaway is first-come, first-served, no pre-registration necessary.

•The giveaway trees are small and will take some attention and care. The Tree Trust will share resources on how to tend to them as they grow and adapt to our Colorado climate.

Earth Week Tree Plantings
Date: April 26th, 2025

Take action for Earth Week and join Drylands Agroecology Research for their annual community tree plantings! Local food and beverages will be provided all day.
Doing Good on Purpose - eARThworks Celebration
eARThworks is a month-long celebration of space, art, and well-being—an immersive experience where creativity reshapes the way we see our surroundings. Through movement, music, and public art, Boulder becomes a canvas for connection, expression and exploration.
They are hosting month-long activities as well as special events on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27.
