Back for another year, Boulder’s Forestry staff are teaming up with the PLAY Boulder Foundation and Cool Boulder to give away tree seedlings to Boulder community members on Saturday, April 26 at Boulder Farmer's Market at 13th and Arapahoe.

The event starts at 8 a.m. and will go until 2 p.m. and is first come, first “treed”. Colorado State University Extension Master Gardeners will also be there providing free native plants! Over 350 tree seedlings and 350 native plants will be available.

Staff from Boulder Forestry and PLAY Boulder’s Tree Tender program will be available for community members to learn more about trees and how to volunteer for the tree care program. Community members can provide their email to receive tree planting tips, tree care information, and additional follow up information.

“Planting trees today is an investment in a cooler, greener tomorrow, ensuring a healthier urban canopy for generations to come,” said Boulder Parks and Recreation Director Ali Rhodes. “We are grateful to our community partners for their continued support in making this great giveaway possible."

The annual Tree Seedling Giveaway not only celebrates Arbor Day but also highlights Boulder’s dedication to fostering a healthy and thriving urban forest. This event underscores the city’s ongoing efforts to preserve a rich and diverse tree canopy for future generations. This year, Boulder proudly celebrates its 42nd year as a Tree City USA and its sixth year as a Tree City of the World.
