Rebates for 2025 will be $106 for individuals and $325 for families.
Annual City Food Tax Rebate Program
Each year, the City of Boulder provides rebates to help compensate residents with lower incomes for the city sales tax they pay on food.

2025 Application Period
Applications open on April 15, 2025. Application forms must be received or be postmarked by June 30, 2025.
Applicants from 2024 will automatically receive an application in the mail. Staff will begin providing customer service for interested community members and applicants on April 15.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, applicants must complete an application and meet financial eligibility guidelines, have resided within Boulder city limits for the entire 2024 calendar year, and be:
- age 62 or over for the entire 2024 calendar year; or
- a person with a disability; or
- a family with children under 18 years of age in the household for the entire 2024 calendar year;
City residents who do not have permanent shelter are eligible for the refund and can meet the residency requirement by providing documentation that they are receiving services from a city-recognized homelessness services agency.

Volunteers Needed
Make a direct impact on Boulder residents! We're seeking two volunteers (5 hours/week) on Wednesdays to assist with the Food Tax Rebate program from April 15 – June 30, 2025. The Food Tax rebate compensates residents with lower incomes for the city sales tax they pay on food. This program is growing each year and processes over 1000 applications in a short period of time. Office support is needed!
